Two years ago 5,213 people were accused of destroying 26 churches, 80 Christian homes, and numerous church halls, priests houses and Christian gravestones in Pakistan. To date none of the culprits have been brought to justice.

Speaking to ACN yesterday Bishop Indrias Rehmat told us Christians in the area want to “shout and scream” in outrage at the failure to bring justice. 

Only Christians have been convicted in connection with the violence, including one man sentenced to death.

Christians in the Punjab’s Jaranwala district urgently need your prayers.

NIGERIA APPEAL

"It was nothing but a patch of earth. We were invited to get out of the vehicle and as soon as we did, the security detail fanned out and formed a security cordon, armed and ready, constantly scanning the horizon for threats." This is a small excerpt from ACN (UK)'s John Pontifex in his latest diary entries on his trip to Nigeria.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION TODAY: 15^th August

In this touching video you will see how the faith brings hope and comfort to John Mandiang Dalu, and other Christians in Nigeria who face many challenges and dangers in their daily lives. John often turns to Our Lady, so today, on the Feast of the Assumption please ask Our Lady for her merciful intercession for Christians in Nigeria and for John and his family.

A BIG THANK YOU TO EALING PARISH ACN GROUP

Will you put your faith into action with TeamRed? Read how Annie and her community are raising awareness and funds ahead of #RedWednesday. 

 “Our Ealing Parish ACN group held a lunch for 20 guests, with a suggested donation of £20. We advertised it as a ‘homemade bread and soup lunch’ and that was quite an attraction. We raised £1,114 which will be doubled to £2,228 as part of the £500k4HOPE matched challenge helping persecuted Christian children & families.

Hosting it in our home (a bit of squeeze) gave it a more personal touch. We made an information board for the event and for use in the church to highlight the situation and plight of, 200 Christians massacred by jihadists in Nigeria, including children & families. We also spoke briefly about the role of ACN. It was hard work, but very enjoyable.

The Parish Office were very helpful, as usual in publicising the event and ACN’s work. We found setting up and donating with Fundraise Up easy, whilst giving guests the choice of paying in cash. Our group is looking into what we could do in the Autumn. We are planning an information board alongside a school’s art display, an ACN goods stall and a coffee & goods sale morning in the parish before joining you for #RedWednesday Holy Mass.

This is a fantastic example of UK support for the persecuted Church and fantastic to hear that Ealing Parish ACN group will be supporting #RedWednesday this autumn. We would love to give a shout-out to all parishes getting involved. And don’t forget: all funds raised for #RedWednesday by parishes and individuals will be doubled thanks to our Matched Challenge!
