Kaduna: Destruction caused by a Fulani attack in 2017

The rubble of the Holy Family Church complex in Gaza.

A SISTER at Gaza’s Catholic parish – now caring for more families following the bombing of the local Orthodox church – has made a heartfelt plea for peace.

Speaking to ACN by telephone, Sister Nabila, who is caring for Christians sheltering in Gaza’s Holy Land parish complex, said they have no electricity and have resorted to drinking water from a well. The Sister, who highlighted concerns for 100 traumatised children she is looking after, said: “We just want peace. We have had six wars in Gaza. Children only know war.”

ACN is dispatching food coupons, medicine and funds to cover electricity, water and other utilities, supporting families in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  Among those ACN is supporting are Christians in Gaza sheltered by Sister Nabila’s congregation. Please do whatever you can to help Sister Nabila care for the Christians in Gaza.

Offering children the gift of God’s love

“Giving children the opportunity to hear and read the Word of God from an early age is one of the greatest gifts we can offer them." With these words, youth catechesis coordinator Father Xene Sanchez began a letter requesting ACN’s help.

He was writing to ask for ACN’s Child’s Bible ‘God Speaks to his Children’ and ACN’s booklet ‘Children praying the Rosary’. Backing the request was Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, Archbishop of Kinshasa. He told us that both books “are of vital importance in enabling all our children across our dioceses to have a solid foundation for their spiritual lives.”

Your kind gift today will be allocated to our #RedWednesday 'matched' 100k for Africa campaign, meaning it can do twice as much for suffering Christians.

Bishop Oliver Dashe Doeme of Maiduguri Diocese, Nigeria was ACN’s honoured guest at the launch of ACN’s "Religious Freedom Report: Africa Update" at the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday (24th October).

Parliamentarians and other invited guests were shocked to hear the scale of persecution across Africa but heartened to learn of ACN support across the continent. To request your digital copy of the Report and to view our powerful Africa Update film, click here.

Thank you to everyone who joined our Rosary event on Sunday 22nd to launch our 100k Rosary Challenge for Africa. Bishop Oliver’s talk on the power of prayer and the Rosary was inspirational and he quoted a number of incidences of divine providence in his Diocese in relation to the Rosary following his own Rosary vision in 2014. He urges all ACN benefactors to pray the Rosary daily and was delighted to learn that 14,000 decades of the Rosary have been pledged so far. To pledge yours, click here.
