Christians who survived jihadist attacks in northern Iraq have come together to celebrate a major festival which will proclaim that Faith is still alive in the region.

Chaldean Archbishop Bashar Warda, who has been working with leaders from other Churches to plan the events, told ACN that this was a sign that the Faith is still alive.

“The timing of the festival is deeply symbolic. A decade ago, Daesh sought to erase Christianity from this land.

“Today, the very same communities will raise the cross high in public squares, in churches, and in joyful processions.

“What once was meant to be silenced has become a proclamation – Faith has survived, and hope is stronger than death.”

ACN IN ACTION

UKRAINE APPEAL

With children returning to school in the UK, it's easy to forget that other children around the world in conflict zones do not have access to the education they need, or a break from the conflict. Many children live a life very different from what a child deserves, being displaced, traumatised or scarred by war and violence.

Through our incredible benefactors, ACN is able to support "Holidays with God", allowing children in Ukraine to experience fun, Faith, and freedom through daily prayer, games, catechesis and creative activities that help them heal.

It's only through you that ACN can support projects for people across Ukraine, helping to bring them emergency aid, shelter, trauma counselling and more. Please support our appeal and help the suffering Christian faithful in Ukraine.

SCOTTISH YOUTH RALLY - THANK YOU FOR COMING!

It was a very busy week for the ACN Team in Scotland! On Tuesday, we welcomed high school students and teachers from across Scotland to our annual Scottish Youth Rally. This year’s theme was ‘Witnesses of Hope’, and it was such an uplifting day filled with music, singing, dancing and prayer.

The Aberdeen African Choir brought lots of energy and enthusiasm with their music, and Fr James, our MC, and Ooberfuse, the band for the day, made the Rally even more interactive and fun for the students. During a fireside chat, guest speaker Timothy Cho spoke powerfully about his experience of escaping North Korea and his faith journey. FireCloud led a very moving time of prayer for persecuted Christians during Eucharistic Adoration, and the whole day finished off with everyone singing ‘Lean on Me’ together.

There was no rest on Wednesday as Timothy visited two high schools to speak to over 200 students, and his talk was livestreamed to other classes in the afternoon as well. That evening he spoke at our Silent No More: A North Korean Testimony event at St Joseph’s in Clarkston relaying his experiences growing up in North Korea, the dangerous reality of being a Christian under the country’s brutal regime, and his escape. He also spoke about hope and forgiveness in the face of suffering, and how God has changed his life. We are grateful for Timothy’s willingness to share his testimony with so many people during his visit.

All in all, the past week’s events in Scotland were full of hope, inspiration, and support for persecuted Christians and ACN's mission!
