Religious Sisters in northern Mozambique who were robbed at gunpoint have recounted their ordeal, describing how they were threatened with decapitation during a night-time raid.

The Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament broke their silence for the first time since the attack, telling ACN that a group of 18 armed men stormed their compound on 8th June in conflict-ridden Cabo Delgado Province.

ACN APPEAL

HOLY LAND

Since October 7th 2023, our benefactors have been supporting the faithful in the Holy Land through the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

It's because of you and your support that people – who have been suffering from the fall-out of the conflict – have had access Church projects that are giving them hope at this difficult time.

Projects providing trauma counselling mean that they can receive the necessary care to deal with the mental and physical anguish of losing of their homes, their friends and their loved ones. Other projects mean that families in urgent need are able to receive food parcels, medicine for the sick and even accommodation for families displaced by the conflict.

Your gracious donations have helped many people but the conflict continues and every day more and more people need hope and Faith to make it through. It's your love and the love of all ACN benefactors which give them hope.

ACN BENEFACTORS DAY: OUR THANKS TO YOU

Last Friday (27th June) on ACN Benefactors’ Day, the ACN team picked up the phones to speak to some of you, our wonderful benefactors, to thank you for everything that you do to improve the lives of the suffering and persecuted faithful.

We were delighted that so many of you were thrilled to speak to us, with one person saying how grateful they were for the Mass which was offered for the intentions of our benefactors. Another said that the call had "made their day". It was amazing to speak to so many of you – talking about everything from weekend plans and the unusually warm British weather we are having, to benefactors asking us about our work and our latest Holy Land appeal.

Although we have a small team here in the UK, ACN Benefactors’ Day is our chance to connect with you to say "Thank You".
