“We call on the world to act – we need an urgent humanitarian corridor to evacuate civilians or to bring critical medical and food aid." - A Sister in contact with the displaced families in eastern Suwayda.

More than 250 people have taken shelter in a church as widespread attacks and bombardments continue in southern Syria.

ACN was told that they are surviving under “extreme conditions and continuous bombardment”.

Another source said: “The siege continues, and sniper fire makes it impossible to get out... Sporadic gunshots are heard and fear is constant, with no clarity on who the fighting factions are. There are still many missing people – they could be in other villages, or dead in their homes.”

ACN APPEAL

HOLY LAND APPEAL

Earlier this week in a heart-rending witness account of his visit to Gaza, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem has begged for an end to the violence. Last week a shell from an Israeli Defense Force tank hit a church killing three people and wounding 10 others including Parish Priest Father Gabriel Romanelli.

ACN continues to work closely with the Patriarch, providing emergency aid and support for the Church across the Holy Land through the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including job creation schemes, trauma counselling and help for priests and religious.

We pray that those in positions of power can bring about the end to this violence, but we need your support to help people like those mentioned affected by the on-going conflict.
